Whale poaching goes against the charter of the UN, which protects the whales in a certain sphere, but the Japanese (yes, since the boat is called Yushin Maru) believe that they're still allowed to poach a certain number. The whales are shot with harpoons, dragged aboard the ship, and canned. Yes. Canned right then and there and shipped back to Japan. And yes, they die slow, agonizing deaths. Whales, of course, are amazingly trusting, gentle creatures.
It's sad, but the United Nations is a joke. It is! No one wants to do anything when it comes to internationalism because it's such dangerous territory. While I was watching it, I felt mixed feelings of, "Gosh, we Americans always have to nose our way into everything", and "This is a crime against nature and we should all get involved."
What do you think?
